At the Gore J.P. Court this morning, for failing to send their children to school, W. Reinke was fined 2s and costs 7s, Mrs. Wingham 4s without costs, Mrs. Annie Hoffman 2s and costs 7s, and W. Gilmour 2s and 7s costs. Mr. Bowler subsequently applied for a rehearing of Reinke's case and plaintiff was convicted only, without fine or costs. For failing to register two dogs, A. Glover was convicted and ordered to pay 7s, and W. McKenzie was convicted without costs. The Court then adjourned until the arrival of the Magistrate at 2 p.m. "The Mataura Ensign", 22 September 1904.
