MAGISTERIAL

GORE
This Day
(Before Mr. G. Cruickshank, S.M.)
At the Gore Court this morning a youth named John Bucholz was charged with on December 24 stealing wool to the value of £1 1s 8d from Patrick Healey, farmer, Waikaka Valley. From the statement of the police it appeared that the accused took the wool from Healey's shed at night time and sold it to Kirk and Co. He agreed to refund the value to the owner, but instead ran away and was eventually arrested at Waikaka by Constable Hunt. Mr. Inder, who appeared for the accused, admitted the offence and stated that if he were admitted to probation or ordered to come for sentence when called upon, his employer (Mr. Irving, of Kuriwao station) was willing to take him back. He also undertook to refund the value of the wool stolen. The Magistrate having reprimanded the accused, convicted and ordered him to come up for sentence when called upon, also to pay 3s costs.
