A sitting of the District Court was held at Invercargill yesterday, before his Honor Judge Ward, when the Assignee was released from a number of estates, among them the following:-Chas. Drake (Wyndham), Robt. McKenzie (Wyndham), Mary Templeton (Wyndham), Edmund Argyle (Otama), R. Low (Riversdale), H. Todd (Mataura), D. Roberts (Gore), J. McKechnie (Gore), P. Barron (Wyndham), M. Hoffman (Gore), J. J. Smaill (Gore), J. White (Gore), and H. King (Kennington). John Sinclair dealer, was declared a bankrupt, on the petition of the liquidators of the J. G. Ward Farmers' Association. "The Mataura Ensign", 24 March 1898.
